Neurofeedback is a non-invasive brain training method that helps regulate brainwave activity. By providing feedback to the brain, neurofeedback helps improve emotional regulation, sleep, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, depression, and even traumatic brain injury. At NeuroVista, we design neurofeedback programs tailored to your unique needs by analyzing your brain map.
-
Your first visit starts with an intake consultation where we talk through your goals and symptoms. After that, we’ll complete a brain map (qEEG) to help guide your training plan. For the brain map, you’ll wear an electrode cap while seated in a comfortable chair. The cap records your brainwave activity, giving us a clear picture of how different areas of your brain are functioning — almost like taking a snapshot of your brain’s unique patterns.
A brain map is completely painless and non-invasive. The results are compared to a large normative database, which allows us to identify areas of overactivity, underactivity, or imbalance that may be connected to issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, sleep problems, or attention difficulties. This information becomes your personalized roadmap, guiding us in designing the most effective neurofeedback training program for your needs.

During a neurofeedback session, sensors are placed on your scalp to measure brainwave activity. You’ll watch or listen to audio-visual feedback that shifts in real time as your brain responds. Over time, this process conditions the brain to create healthier, more balanced patterns — similar to how physical exercise strengthens muscles. The difference is that once your brain learns these new patterns, the results are generally long-lasting, because the brain has been permanently trained to function more efficiently.

Yes, neurofeedback is considered safe and non-invasive. It doesn’t involve medication, electrical stimulation, or shocks — just monitoring brain activity and providing feedback. Side effects are rare and usually temporary, such as feeling a little tired or mentally activated after a session. However, most clients report feeling relaxed or mentally clear after sessions.
-
The number of sessions varies by individual and condition. Many clients start noticing improvements within 10–20 sessions, but lasting results often come from 30–40 sessions. Counseling and neurofeedback can also be combined for more comprehensive results. At NeuroVista, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan based on your goals and progress.
-
Absolutely. Neurofeedback trains the brain to reduce overactive “fight-or-flight” patterns that cause racing thoughts, tension, and panic. Many of our clients report feeling calmer, sleeping better, and being less reactive to stress after consistent training.
-
At NeuroVista, neurofeedback is considered out-of-network or self-pay. We will work with you to explore payment options, such as flexible payment solutions or packages, and provide documentation for reimbursement if possible.

Yes, neurofeedback has over 40 years of research behind it and is supported by organizations like the American Psychological Association for conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, and PTSD. While results vary, many clients experience significant and lasting benefits. Visit our website to read up on neurofeedback research.

Yes. Neurofeedback is safe for children and often used to help with ADHD, learning difficulties, anxiety, and emotional regulation. We adapt sessions to make them engaging and comfortable for younger clients.

Counseling addresses the emotional and psychological side of healing, while neurofeedback supports the brain’s physical regulation. Together, they form a holistic approach — strengthening resilience, improving sleep, reducing stress, and creating long-lasting change.

FAQ for Counseling
-
We provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling tailored to your needs. Counseling sessions provide a safe space to process emotions, heal from trauma, and build coping strategies. We use approaches like EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, and somatic therapy to address anxiety, depression, PTSD, and life transitions.
-
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a proven trauma therapy that helps the brain reprocess painful memories. Using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, sounds, or tapping), EMDR allows you to reduce the emotional charge of past events and move forward with less distress.
-
Somatic therapy focuses on the connection between mind and body. By tuning into physical sensations, breathing, and body awareness, somatic therapy helps release stored tension and trauma. This approach can be especially powerful for clients with PTSD, chronic stress, or anxiety.
-
If you’re struggling with anxiety, sleep problems, mood swings, attention issues, or past trauma, neurofeedback and counseling may help. Many clients benefit from doing both together for whole-person healing. We offer free consultations to help you decide the best path forward.
